Tiger Woods The People's Champion

Over the weekend I watched a master at work, a master by the name of tiger Woods. tiger, I hope, is an inspiration to a massive amount of people around the world and is just a joy to behold. I truly believe that he is the best golfer to have set foot on this planet and am confident that he will soon beat the record of Jack nicklaus who won eighteen major titles.

I have learnt a great deal from tiger Woods and I feel that we can all benefit from not only watching this man but also to listening to what he has to say. He is a true champion, possibly the greatest champion and we can all learn from him in our quest to achieve success.

After winning on Sunday, tiger Woods spoke about some of the other professionals from the game of golf. He did not mention any specific names but just about the players in general. He stated that, in his opinion, not all of the golfers treated the game as a sport and that he had felt as fit and raring to go on the last hole on Sunday, as he had done on the first hole on Thursday. In contrast to this, he could see in front of his own eyes, other players seemingly wilting in the heat.

The additional effort that tiger woods puts in each day via his own fitness regime, really paid off when it mattered in this tournament. To be a real champion you need to go that extra mile, to work harder than your fellow competitors.

I am now using this and other comments from certain champions from various sports to help me to achieve success in my own life.

I am never going to be a tiger Woods but am confident that I can be a champion within my own little world.

My advice to other people would be to not only watch sport but to try to learn from all the champions that you watch.

Does Obesity Require a Physical or Mental Solution?

Unhealthy food Advertising

The fact that the US is currently suffering from an obesity epidemic is not just a random occurrence. How many dump trucks could be loaded with 100-dollar bills from money poured into unhealthy food advertisements? I would imagine quit a lot. There are several commercials advertising healthy food and fitness equipment, but by comparison they are almost negligible.

How Does Advertising Effect The average obese American?

I believe advertising has a huge effect on when we eat, why we eat, and what we eat. When I was obese, I made a startling discovery. Believe it or not, I ate even when I was not actually hungry. My body wasnt giving me signs such as my stomach growling, but my mind told me umm that would taste good! . When did my mind tell me that? Right after I saw an advertisement. So I ate when food was available or when I got a craving from an advertisement, not when I was actually hungry. This created a large problem. The number of calories I was eating was far greater than the amount that could be burned from a reasonable amount of exercise.

What Can I Do about it?

Television has become a large part of American culture and fast food advertisements are not going anywhere. We have to learn ways to deal with these advertisements. Below I have listed a few ways.

1. While watching your favorite shows, turn the channel when a commercial comes on (something were good at anyway).

2. Do a 5 minute exercise routine during commercial breaks.

3. Have a scale in your living room. When a commercial comes on, stand on it.

4. Watch TV with people who want you to loss weight.

5. Be creative! You can think of a lot more ways to preoccupy yourself during commercials.

Conclusion

You must have a physical and mental solution to attack obesity. A physical solution would be a way to burn more calories than you eat every day. Your mental solution would be how you will resist eating when youre not actually hungry.

The variety of stores in the mall offers players an endless supply of resources including vehicles, makeshift weapons and more. Players encounter other survivors along the way, and by helping them, acquire valuable clues as to what has happened and how to survive.

I couldn't say it better than one fan: "Thousands and thousands of zombies to kill in a myriad of ridiculous ways; tons of things to see and try throughout the mall; great sense of style; a plot that manages to be intriguing without intruding too much on the action; and fantastic sound effects."

Tips In Choosing The Right Golf Iron

irons are used for medium to long-range shots, and the variety of their uses is why they compromise more than half the clubs in a usual set. irons are used for shorter golf shots, ranging from 200 yards to less than 100 yards. Long irons such as 1-iron (also called driving iron) and 2-iron are not included in the standard set of irons because they are the most difficult irons to handle.

Iron

Novice and recreational golfers are advised to stay away from 1- and 2-iron. They should even consider replacing 3- and 4-iron with higher lofted fairway woods, 7-wood or 9-wood, because they are easier to hit and produce comparable distance. In general, irons are used for distance that is less than 200 yards from the green.

One of the secrets to successful iron play is knowing exactly how far you can hit with each club. Higher number irons are used as you are closer to the green. Even though, driver is used to off the tee, but irons are also used off the tee for Par-3 or narrow & short Par-4. this is why cast irons also known as 'perimeter weighted' irons. Therefore, cast irons bring significant performance improvement for average golfers who have the tendency to hit the ball off-center.

Forged irons - In contrast to cast irons, forged irons feature a full back on the rear of the club head. Hence, forged irons with smaller sweet spot are less forgiving. But forged irons offer more control and extra 'feel' than cast irons. Therefore, forged irons are recommended for low handicapper. Graphite shaft irons allows an average golfer to swing the club faster that could add extra distance. You are strongly recommended to use graphite shafts in your irons if your golf swing is slow.

Shaft

The higher the iron clubs, the more loft and the shorter shaft length is. Graphite shafts are lighter than steel can reduce the overall golf club weight which is good news for all golfers, especially for weaker players such as senior and women. Graphite shaft irons allows an average golfer to swing the club faster that could add extra distance. There are different types of shafts used for irons, and the right choice allows you to make easier and better shots.

Steel shafts are affordable and durable, making it the preferred choice of many. Graphite shafts are for people who wish to add speed or distance to their shots by making their clubs lighter without sacrificing its strength. And lastly, there are shafts that are made from a combination of graphite and steel to give you the best of both worlds.

There are many things to consider when buying clubs, like identifying your needs which shaft flex it is best suited for your swing would a club fitting benefit you the value of used golf clubs. Most teaching professionals say that up to 75% of all golfers use shafts that are too stiff. If you're not sure which shaft flex or club head is right for your game then a custom club fitting may be right for you.

Yoga Clothes for Comfort, Functionality - and Let's Not Leave Out Fun!

Yoga clothes should be comfortable and functional. They should allow you to move freely and not distract you from your practice. They should feel good against your skin so they dont cause any irritation.

Ideally, the clothing should be absorbent so that it wicks sweat away from your body. There are few things that feel as uncomfortable as a sticky, clammy body that is moist from perspiration.

I also think they should be attractive and fun to wear. When I do yoga alone in my home, I am willing to wear an old tee shirt and sweats or baggy shorts. When I practice in a class, I am more discriminating in what I choose to wear.

I admit it. I work very hard to keep my body in shape, and when I am with others, I want to show off the efforts of my hard work. I usually choose form fitting pants and a fitted tee shirt. This allows me to see the outline of my body in the mirror so I can maintain good form, and it lets me move without having to fuss with my clothes. They are also flattering to my body, so when I wear them I feel good.

Here are some of the things that you should look for in yoga clothing so that they work well for you and make you feel good about yourself and your practice.

Yoga pants
There are many types of yoga pants. Some are long and go down to your ankles; others stop just below your knees. Often they are relatively form fitting. These types of pants have the benefit of allowing your instructor to see your alignment so she can make any necessary adjustments to your form.

If you arent comfortable in pants that are so revealing, you might enjoy wearing loose, cotton trousers. They offer freedom of movement without being too tight.

Whatever pants you choose, make sure that you can bend and move freely in them. Also be sure that there are no bulky ties at the waist that might be uncomfortable when you are lying in a prone position.

Yoga Shorts
Yoga shorts are a very good choice if you practice bikram or hot yoga, because the room is heated to such a high temperature. They are a good bet in the warm summer months when long pants might be too warm. They also help you more easily check the proper alignment of your lower body because you can see your knees and ankles.

The yoga shorts should be long enough to cover your derriere and they should not ride up. Form fitting shorts usually dont move too much, so they may be just right for you.

Yoga Tops
Yoga tops should allow you to move freely without having them fall in your face. Tee shirts should be short enough so that your lower body is not hidden, so you can more easily check your alignment. Some women like to wear sports bras (especially those who practice bikram yoga). If you choose to wear one, make sure that it holds you securely and that nothing falls out when you are bending or stretching. You dont want to wear something that is going to cause you to worry about what you might be showing to the rest of the class.

Yoga tops come in many bright and attractive colors. You might also have fun wearing shirts with characters such as Yoga girl on them.

Yoga Shoes
most people do not wear shoes during their practice. However, they might be useful if you practice outside in a park, on a beach, or some place where you would not want to take off your shoes and socks. Yoga shoes look very similar to other athletic footwear, except that the soles allow for considerable flexibility in your foot and the tops of the shoes are very lightweight. Some popular brands include Puma yoga shoes and adidas shoes for yoga.

Jacket
Many people might not think that a jacket is an important part of yoga clothing, but I beg to disagree. I think it is absolutely critical to take a jacket with you to your yoga class. I have been in many classes where the temperature has been quite cool (some are downright freezing). While the temperature often doesnt matter too much while I am moving during the poses, it becomes quite a different story when the time comes to meditate.

I dont know about you, but I find it difficult if not impossible, to relax when I am cold. Bringing a jacket with you gives you an option of covering up during the relaxation period if you are feeling chilly. Feeling warm and comfortable allows you the pleasure of letting your body relax fully.

So yoga clothes should be functional, comfortable, and give you the freedom to totally enjoy your practice. Have fun with them and enjoy wearing the ones that make you feel good!

Top 10 Ways to Prevent Soccer Injuries

soccer is a growing sport among the youth in our country today. Notably, more female athletes are choosing to play soccer. With this added participation, it is inevitable that more injuries will occur. Many of these injuries are linked to physical training and conditioning.

The most common injuries in soccer typically involve the ankle, knee and hip region. Such injuries include ankle sprains, knee ligament sprains, meniscus tears, and muscular strains (hip and groin). ACL injuries are now reaching epidemic proportions, especially in the female soccer athlete.

Research has indicated that proper training programs can and do reduce ACL injuries and will help prevent other sports related injuries. Much of the research has indicated that strengthening, jump landing technique and agility training affect the risk for this type of injury. The following list will outline how to effectively reduce common soccer injuries.

1.Perform a periodized year round strength training program with special emphasis on balancing the muscles of the leg and targeting the core muscles (low back, abdominals and hip).

2.Understand the energy systems utilized in soccer and train them according to performance demands. This involves the proper blend of training aerobic endurance and anaerobic power to ensure explosive performance over the entire course of a match. Fatigue late in the match can lead to injury.

3.Perform routine stretching to prevent muscular imbalance and tightness. This refers to static stretching that should be done after a suitable warm-up or at the end of practice.

4.Perform supervised, carefully planned plyometric (jump) training to teach proper landing form and develop power.

5.Incorporate dynamic balance training to teach body control and reduce ankle sprains and knee injuries.

6.Take planned periodic rests from practice and play to avoid overtraining.

7.Perform routine agility and quickness drills to improve footwork and cutting ability. Many ACL injuries occur with non-contact cutting movements and it is critical for athletes to cut on a bent knee and be able to control their momentum during change of direction.

8.Perform a dynamic warm-up prior to practice and games that effectively simulates sport specific movement. These activities will better prepare the body for the demands placed upon it during competition. This can be further broken down into general and specific functional warm-ups.

9.Perform yearly pre-season physical screening evaluations with an athletic trainer or physical therapist to assess any musculoskeletal areas of weakness.

10.Perform pre-season, in-season and post-season fitness testing to assess training methods, performance and conditioning. This protocol will allow the coaches to adjust training volume, intensity and modalities to ensure that their athletes are peaking at the right time and not training improperly.

All of these suggestions are important in developing complete athletes and preventing common injuries. They will not prevent all soccer injuries, however, they will greatly reduce the risk potential and enhance athletic performance. The ultimate key to injury prevention is understanding the sport of soccer and developing a program designed to address its demands on the body.
